Live Locally, Learn Locally

“Live Locally, Learn Locally” will be a key campaign theme I will be focusing on. Community schools benefit our children in so many possible ways. The cost savings of closing these schools is minimal. Yet the costs to our children and communities are high. Learning, playing and building relationships close to home in the early years is very important. Two of our community schools, Lanor and George R. Gauld are at capacity, but they do not fit in with the board’s vision of hope with larger schools. The nearby schools that these students would be moved to are already at capacity. How much would it cost us to expand these schools to acommodate more students and is it really worth it? I just became a fan of Friends of Community Schools. I invite you to do the same.
